The new Skoda Citigo - first official pictures

These are the first official pictures of the next car being added to our model range – the ŠKODA Citigo. It’s the first ŠKODA to feature the new brand design style that will define future models, including the new badge. TheCitigo, which will be available in three and five-door versions, is due tobe launched in the CzechRepublic near the end of this year. The UK launch is expected to take place next summer.
The Citigo willmeasure just 3.56 metres long, 1.65 metres wide and 1.48 metres high, making ita fantastically nimble car around town. But, as you’d expect from any ŠKODA, it will be packed with ‘Simply Clever’ touches to make it the ideal choice for thosewanting a car for the city and the country.
It will offer a generous amount of interior space, thanks to its 2.42 metre-long wheel base, toprovide enough comfort for four passengers even on long trips. The boot volume will be a sizeable 251 litres with the rear seats up, or 951 litres with the seats folded down.
One more clever touch is a portable navigation system – a first for any ŠKODA car. The device can befitted to the dashboard and then removed easily for use on the go. The system is an integral part of the vehicle's onboard electronics, providing notonly navigation, but also hands-free calling with built-in Bluetooth andonboard infotainment. The driver can also view information about the car, such as warnings from parking sensors etc, on the device’s five-inch touch screen.
For the first time in any ŠKODA, the designers have used a Head-Thorax side airbag to protect the heads of both the driver and the front seat passenger. Along with a number of other items, this is part of asafety package usually found only on much larger cars.
Safety is enhanced further by ‘City Safe Drive’, a new brake assistance system that uses a laser and sensor to activate the brakesautomatically at speeds below 30kph (18.64mph) when there is danger of acollision. Depending on the speed and the traffic situation, this ingenioussystem may prevent accidents or, at the very least, reduce the severity ofcollisions in city traffic.
Two highly economical green engines will offer impressively low fuel consumption figures of 67.3mpg and 65.7mpg respectively, and emissions of just 97g and 99gCO2/km respectively.
Alongside the manual transmission, the Citigo will be available with an automatic transmission.
