  • HGV Driver Class Two

As a Class 2 Driver you will be responsible for the efficient transportation and delivery of our Cars using a commercial motor vehicle meeting company, customer and legislative requirements.

Applicants that fulfil the requirement will be invited for interview and a driving assessment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning the delivery schedules and routes with the relevant Manager;
  • To load and unload the vehicles so that they are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage;
  • Carry out multi-drop pickups and deliveries in a timely, efficient and safe manner;
  • Following traffic reports and changing your route if necessary;
  • Completing delivery paperwork and log books;
  • Represent Simpsons SKODA in a professional manner to customers, the public and provide excellent customer service at all times;
  • Daily vehicle check completion including maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle;
  • Comply with appropriate Working Time (driver hour limits) and Tachograph Legislation;
  • Manual handling and operating Mechanical Handling Equipment;
  • Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage;
  • To operate moveable beds on the vehicle safely and in accordance with the correct procedures.
  • Ensure accidents are kept to a minimum and Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the move company’s accident reporting procedure.
  • Be aware of the vehicle inspection Rota for servicing and MOT and bring to the Service Manager’s attention if necessary;
  • Drive in a safe and fuel-efficient manner at all times and in accordance with the law;
  • Attend essential training in order to carry out the driver role;
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment; ensuring staff comply with Health and Safety requirements
  • To ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the position.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Hold a Class 2 Licence

Digital Tachograph card and up to date CPC card

Demonstrate Excellent Customer Service Skills

Be comfortable working alone and as a part of a team

Experience of multi-drop deliveries / Pick Ups

Excellent communication skills

Excellent time management skills

Knowledge of driving laws and working time regulations

Excellent driving skills and road safety knowledge

The ability to complete record sheets and paperwork accurately

Please note that the salary on offer is wholly dependent on the skills, experience and value obtained of the successful applicant. This position therefore has a truly negotiable salary, which will be discussed further as part of the recruitment process.
