The fourth generation Škoda Octavia has been refreshed with a refined look, upgraded technology and greater emphasis on sustainability in a mid-life update set to hit the market in the summer.

Four petrol and two diesel engines will form a well-rounded line-up for customers, while second-generation LED Matrix headlights and a new, larger 13-inch infotainment display keep the iconic model in a strong position among its competitors.

Styling refinements

The exterior has been fine-tuned for a fresh-faced look, featuring a redesigned front end, revised Škoda grille, and updated Škoda logo and lettering that reflects the brand’s latest corporate identity.

The advanced, second-generation LED Matrix beam headlights feature 36 individual segments to deliver greater illumination of the road while shielding oncoming traffic from glare. All base Octavia models will use headlights featuring LED technology as standard.

Redesigned front and rear bumpers give the Octavia a sharper and more purposeful stance, while also increasing the overall length of the hatchback and estate by nine millimetres. The sides of the grille have also been tweaked to match the height of the new headlights for a fluid and elegant appearance.

Futureproof technology and sustainability

Nine design selections will be offered, which all benefit from an increased use of sustainable materials in the form of recycled fabrics and sustainably-treated leather – a first for the Octavia.

Elsewhere, technology has also had a welcome uplift. A new 10-inch infotainment display features as standard, which can be upgraded to a large, high-resolution 13-inch unit. The AI-based ChatGPT chatbot will later be integrated into the Laura voice assistant as standard, unlocking a new level of potential for in-car user experience with new capabilities that go far beyond previous voice commands. The USB-C ports have also tripled in power to 45 watts – enough to power a laptop.

A dual-zone Climatronic system is now standard on all models, and from the Selection trim level upwards the interior includes a 15-watt Phone Box. This offers inductive fast charging of smartphones, as well as a cooling function.

Efficiency and performance

Four petrol and two diesel engines form the engine line-up in the updated Octavia, with power ranging from 116hp to 265hp in the sporty vRS derivative.

A choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG will feature, depending on the engine.
