New OCTAVIA 1.0 TSI e-TEC available to order on Tuesday 22 September

The OCTAVIA 1.0 TSI 110PS e-TEC with direct-shift gearbox (DSG) will be available to order on Tuesday 22 September.

The new OCTAVIA is the very first ŠKODA to include ‘mild hybrid’ or MHEV technology, which will be available on the 1.0 and 1.5 TSI engines. We call this technology ‘e-TEC’. The 1.5 TSI e-TEC will start production at the end of November.

The 1.0 TSI and the 1.5 TSI petrol engines are fitted with a seven-speed DSG transmission and use a separate belt-driven starter motor and a 48-volt lithium-ion battery. These additional electric power units make it possible to recover energy during braking and store it in the battery – just as you would with a fully electric vehicle.

The energy recovered and stored by these additional units means you can coast with the engine completely switched off for long periods of time, while maintaining power to essential systems such as power steering. This significantly reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Customers can specify the new 1.0 TSI e-TEC engine on two trim levels: SE First Edition and the fleet-focussed SE Technology. Available in both hatch and estate forms, prices range from £23,005 OTR for the First Edition Hatch up to £24,235 OTR for the SE Technology Estate variant.
