Max McRae Takes Brilliant BRC Victory at Rali Ceredigion
Simpsons Škoda-sponsored rally driver Max McRae has claimed a superb British Rally Championship victory at Rali Ceredigion, setting up a thrilling three-way battle for the 2026 title.
Max McRae and co-driver Cameron Fair delivered another impressive performance behind the wheel of their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 at one of the biggest events on the British rallying calendar.
Taking place on the challenging asphalt roads around Aberystwyth, Rali Ceredigion forms part of both the British Rally Championship (BRC) and FIA European Rally Championship, bringing together some of the best rally crews from Britain and across Europe.
Victory on Saturday
Max made a fantastic start to the weekend, taking the lead through Friday night's stages and carrying that advantage into Saturday.
Despite intense pressure from championship rival Osian Pryce, Max held his nerve through the final stages in Aberystwyth to secure victory in the BRC classification – his second British Rally Championship win of the 2026 season, following his victory at the Jim Clark Rally earlier this year.
The result was made even more valuable by Max's decision to nominate Ceredigion as his championship Joker, earning additional points towards his title challenge.
Sunday brought another strong result, with Max and Cameron taking second place in the BRC, while Meirion Evans claimed the victory.
Across the full international Rali Ceredigion event, Max and Cameron brought their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 home an impressive fourth overall against a highly competitive international field.
The Championship Goes Down to the Wire
The results from Ceredigion mean the fight for the 2026 British Rally Championship could hardly be closer.
Max McRae, Meirion Evans and Osian Pryce head into the final round of the season separated by just two points, meaning all three remain firmly in contention for the title.
It will all be decided at the Lewis & Hunter Cambrian Rally on 24 October, when the championship returns to gravel for its finale in the forests of North Wales.
For Max, a victory at the Cambrian would provide the perfect conclusion to an outstanding season.
