If you have access to off-street charging, then installing a specialised home charger is your best option. A home charger in your driveway or garage can charge the new, all-electric Elroq in 8 hours+ and the Enyaq 50 in 8 hours+. Switching to an EV-specific tariff can give you lower rates for electricity use at night.
You can plug your electric car into charge using a standard three-pin domestic socket. However, this is nowhere near as powerful, fast and effective as a specialist charger.
Mostly found at motorway services, these use a high power AC or DC supply to get you charged up in minutes not hours. Rapid chargers can take your battery from 10% to 80% capacity in as little as half an hour†.
Whatever your questions about owning and driving an electric vehicle, we hope you find our FAQ answers them. And if – like most people – you don’t know your BEV from your PHEV from your mHEV, don’t worry. Our A-Z glossary tells you what’s what in plain English.
